- The top independent foundation dedicated to art in France, the Fondation Marguerite and Aimé Maeght is among the biggest international cultural institutions. Inaugurated on 28 July 1964 by André Malraux, the Foundation was born of the friendship of Aimé Maeght and his wife Marguerite, major art publishers and dealers of post-war Europe, with some of the most important artists of the 20th century, such as Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Fernand Léger, Georges Braque, Alberto Giacometti, Marc Chagall and the like...
"The Maeght Foundation, which is located near the famous village of Saint-Paul de Vence, 25 km from Nice, welcomes visitors in a unique architectural complex, designed by Josep Lluís Sert, to display modern and contemporary art in all its forms. Painters and sculptors worked with the Catalan architect, creating works which are part of the building and nature, the Giacometti court, the Miró labyrinth, inhabited by sculptures and ceramics, the mural mosaics by Chagall and Tal Coat, the pool and fountain by Braque and the fountain by Bury. The whole complex combines interior and exterior areas with the sculpture garden, courtyards, terraces and patios, exhibition rooms, the chapel, the library and the bookshop. The Fondation Maeght has one of the biggest collections of paintings, sculptures, drawings and graphic works of modern art and contemporary artists in Europe. Works from the permanent collection (selection). - One admission to the museum per Pass.
